Travel Key Opinion Leader (KOL) seems like a great job, you get to travel the world, you get to visit many counties, you see a lot of awesome views, you can experience the local culture. But what you can’t see are when we are couch surfing, hitch-hiking, sleeping in police station, and etc…. because of these exclusive traveling experiences is communicated via text, photo and video to everyone on internet, we slowly become a KOL, today AsiaKOL interview with Hong Kong top 10 KOL, to share with you more details about traveller influencer.

6.        Riki’s Latino Moment

1)       What inspired you to start a blog?

A lot of people feel that Latin America is very far away and have a bad impression on Latin America countries. Sometimes they don’t even know what the negative impressions are are. I hope that I am able to share more about Latin American to Hongkies & Taiwanese.

2)       Which is the best country to travel to when you are on a tight budget?

Traveling on a budget is just one method. The most important thing about traveling is understanding the local culture. If you have an open mind about experiencing the local live, everywhere can be travelled with a budget. Even Hong Kong.

3)       Would you share some tips about when you are on a tight budget?

Normally when travelling to a country with a tight budget, the economy of that country is not doing so well. The locals have a harder life that we cannot comprehend. If we just travel there without any idea about the local people, and just spend a little bit of money to have a good time, I feel that its very bad. Its like building your happiness on the suffering of others.

I would suggest asking the local people for tips and where to get local food. If you have a change, stay at a local’s house or guest house where it is cheaper. It might be a bit more expensive compared to a YMCA dorm room but its generally more comfortable and you get to interact with the locals.

In Latin America, busses are separated into two types, one for tourist and one for the locals. For the tourist one, the busses are more comfortable compared to the local one. Also, in Latin America, you can travel across countries via bus instead of taking flights. It depends on what you want.

7.        Jin Ling

1)       What inspired you to start a blog?

Hong Kong people like travel very much. We really need more reliable recommendations and information. But now on the internet, it mainly focuses on the same countries with the same contents like food, shopping, attractions. If you want to do in depth, there is really no good references around.

2)       Which is the best country to travel to when you are on a tight budget?

Mexico. Mexico is a big country but their transportation network is quite good and they have a lot of culture & heritage. There are also a lot of  marine activities by the Caribbean Sea.

3)       Would you share some tips about when you are on a tight budget?

International youth hostel is better choice. You can get cheaper accommodations and more importantly it’s easier to get more information in the short time as there are many travellers there as well. It’s easy to find someone to car pool with you for a day tour as well.

8.        Love Love Lings Travel Miles

1)       What inspired you to start a blog ?

A lot friends knows I like save miles to redeem air tickets. They frequently ask me how do I earn miles effectively. So I started my the “粒粒玲子BLOG”, in Jun, 2013 I moved to blogspot and change my blog’s name to “粒粒玲子里數遊”. I hope through my sharing people are able to earn miles effectively. Flexible exchange of rich destination tickets and sharing of travel information. From the daily expenditures you can realize the dream of traveling around the world!

2)       Which is the best country to travel to when you are on a tight budget?

In Norway 100HKD can buy you are burger from a gas station. But if you go to a supermarket you can buy ingredient for dinner for 2 persons. So I think any counties can be travelled with a tight budget.

3)       Would you share some tips about when you are on a tight budget?

The most expensive thing about traveling is the air ticket fee. There are a lot of options to get cheaper accommodations, but for air tickets its more difficult. So, if you can and air ticket fees, you will have more budget on travelling.

9.        Travel. Most Important Small Thing

1)       What inspired you to start a blog ?

My work was related to the travel industry. So, I often visit many counties for business. I thought I could have a blog to share pictures with my friends. During my travels, I googled a lot of information and a lot of another people’s blog helped me. That’s why I want to share my experience to other people as well.

2)       Which is the best country to travel to when you are on a tight budget?

Travelling with a budget is one way to travelling, but it does not mean you can not enjoy it. It is a choice. But it is an easier way to get new friends because you can experience living in a youth hostel, share a car etc. You will be in a community of travellers with people who have different culture from you. You tend to get more out of it.

3)       Would you share some tips about when you are on a tight budget ?

You can try to stay at youth hostel, guest house or share apartment. Now we have B&B which is also worth a try.

Ask local people to recommend goods, or you can even have lunch with local people together.

Also, don’t travel during peak seasons. Use public transportation or buy one day pass to save money. If you want to take a car to travel, find other people to share the cost together.

10.        Lin Hui: Traveling Writting

1)       What inspired you to start a blog ?

2)       Which is the best country to travel to when you are on a tight budget?

South East of Asia is great place but a lot Hong Kong’s people overlook it. There are wonderful beaches in Philippines, Cambodia have Angkorwat, Myanmar has unique culture and heritage in each region.. South East of Asia generally has cheap air ticket, low prices and nice people. Everyone should travel otherwise what a pity.

3)       Would you share some tips about when you are on a tight budget ?

I don’t feel that travelling with a tight budget is hard. Travelling this way is a good way of meeting people and having a memorable experience. In fact, there is a lot of way to save money. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to travel.
