Asiakol is honored to have the opportunity to interview the travel influencer of the Philippines, let us take a look at the story of Jan Leo Salazar.
AsiaKOL:How did you start your influencer career? Do you remember your first post or first video?
I decided to become a content creator before we went to Seoul, September last year. I took advantage of that trip - invest on ootds, reseacrh about the place, poses and even photo editing tips. In short, I did all the leg work before i went on a trip. My first Seoul picture, which was me wearing Hanbok, garnered so much attention. Since then, I knew that was I wanted to do.
AsiaKOL:Which was the project that impressed you most? What happened there?
I was in Bali when I received an email from Resorts World Sentosa. They were inviting me to experience Universal Studios, Adventure Cove and SEA Aquarium. They gave me and my friend free tickets and paid me a good amount of money. It felt like they paid us to have the time of our lives in Singapore.
AsiaKOL:Which is your favorite project till now?
To date, it is still my Resorts World Sentosa campaign which happened January this year.
AsiaKOL:After becoming a influencer, is there something that change or influence your life?
My life became fuller. I am experiencing things I haven't experienced before. I met a lot of wonderful people personally and virtually. It made me more positive and outgoing.
AsiaKOL:Is there any comments or feedback you received impressed you a lot?
It always melt my heart whenever I receive messages saying that I am inspiring them. I remember someone even tweeting my feed sasaying she spent hours browsing through my photos and it was the first time she did not get bored. She even encouraged her followers to follow me not just because my photos were nice but because I inspire her and that I am a good person according to her. I barely know her that's why it meant a lot.
AsiaKOL:How do you interact with fans? Any interesting stories?
I always engage with my followers. I always reply to their messages and comments. I gained a lot of virtual friends. There's this one follower who waited for me in a restaurant. He was watching my stories and found out that I was going to a restaurant near his workplace. He asked his boss that he will be going out, waited for me so we could take a photo together. I never felt special.
AsiaKOL:Do you have anything else to add on?
Use social media for good. Know your purpose on why your using them and spread positivity as much as possible. You have no idea how huge an impact you can make in other people's lives.
